Go Bananas!

It’s already HOT in sunny Florida where I live. But other places are feeling summer not spring where they live. I see a lot of beach babes here already basking in the 🌞 sun and frying their hair & skin!

So, I thought I’d share a natural treatment mask you can do that is for the hair!

What you will need to do this mask:

My clients love this mask too. I like to share with them too!

1 ripe banana 🍌

1 tablespoon of olive πŸ«’ oil

1 teaspoon of local honey 🍯

I learned this recipe when I traveled to Italy. I love interviewing locals on their beauty secrets wherever I go.

Simply mash and mix all of the above in a small bowl. Stir well. It will be gooey a bit but so worth it!

I apply the mask with my hands and leave it on at least 15 minutes. Rinse well and shampoo with a little bit of shampoo. You don’t need to use cream rinse afterwards.

*FYI … If you want to tweak this recipe by adding more olive oil,a dash more of honey or half of another banana you can. If you want to do this on your husbands hair he will benefit from it too!

Olive oil does so much for the face & body!
I love whipping up natural recipes in my beauty kitchen!

Candy Cane Lane

Have you gone down the candy aisle or shopped at one of Ralph Lauren’s daughter’s candy stores?

Candy canes are having a major moment right now. They come in so many hues and are so fun when used in a variety of delicious and decorative ways.

They come in so many colors and styles these days. I love to serve them to guests with milk, hot cocoa and crush them and sprinkle on top of cheesecake, cupcakes and more. I also enjoy serving my clients Candy Cane Lane hot Tea with a tiny candy cane hanging from inside the cup.

They seem to make people of all ages smile around this time of year especially.

One of my fave ways to keep it fun at my makeup studio is by making some special clients a fresh home-made lip treat. Peppermint candy canes work well and taste refreshing. But I am also over the moon with the other flavors and colors available today.

All you need for my recipe is…

  • 1 fresh jar of organic coconut oil (not used from your kitchen pantry)
  • A candy cane of your choice.

Using a kitchen mallot I crush the canes into tiny pieces but a few mini chunks work well and are visually appealing.

I then place a soup spoon (or fill with a 1/4 cup) of the coconut oil and place it in a microwave-safe small bowl. The amount of coconut oil depends on how much you want to make)

I sprinkle in a few pieces of the crushed candy cane.

I microwave for 50 seconds or less. I eyeball it. (Yes, you can do this on the stovetop but I like it this way too)

IF you want to have a peppermint kick add a dash of  food-grade peppermint oil.

Next, I take this mixture out of the microwave, stir a bit and let it cool very quickly and then place some of it in a small container. You will have leftovers depending on the size jar you use.

What you will have is a cool to the tongue and refreshing lipgloss or lip balm that is not only fun to make but this recipe is so EASY to do.

The shelf life isn’t months but more like a week or so but the feeling on dry winter lips and skin-softening will make you want to use it daily! Treat yourself or someone else this holiday season and keep those lips soft and kissable this cold winter!

Sometimes the best gifts are home-made and made with love!!! Don’t you agree?

Pretty Amazing Papaya Treatment!

I so loved shopping πŸ› and best of all exploring the street markets of fabulous Hong Kong. I love to not only kiss and makeup I also love to create fresh seasonal spa treatments. You can do these at home or in your beauty business.

I noticed a popular trend that is a really an ancient beauty ritual. Papaya soap to brighten and whiten the complexion and creams containing enzyme rich papaya too.

MADE FROM SCRATCH recipe came from me chatting it up with a few sweet senior ladies I came across. They say this easy recipe is skin polishing and brightening and they love to do it too. They like to use this on the hands, the feet or the body. They said MY skin will feel like a baby! They were right.

 What you will need is:

1 cup of pureed Papaya fruit

1/3 or 1/4 cup of coconut oil

1/3 of grapeseed oil ( I added this ingredient to the recipe)

1 cup of raw sugar

1 spray bottle of distilled water

Mix the fruit and oils together than slowly add the sugar  in a bowl.

  • Have the client lay on a plastic sheet. IF you are doing this treatment on her body drape her with a sheet to keep her cozy as you move along. But if you are doing hands and feet you will not need to drape or lay her down completely. Just do the hands and feet. I also used it on my decolette and loved the way my skin looked and felt.
  • Spray the part of the body you want to use it on with some room temperature water.
  • Apply the Papaya Polish and start to rub on the skin.A little goes a long way.

*If you need more sugar add it if you need more water spray on the body.If you need a bit more oil add a dash more and stir.

  • Rinse well with luke warm washcloth or if your spa has a shower have the client rinse  dead skin and her cares away! For another layer of a luxe treat apply a delicious hand and body lotion.

Sometimes I think fresh is truly the best!  EnJOY!
