I am so disappointed on something I see at spas and salons all over the country!
what bothers me is seeing the magazines or books 📚 sitting on tables in the waiting room.
I’m not necessarily talking about the old or tattered ones that have been read countless times but the magazines themselves. The selection for the clients or guests to read.
Massage therapy journals, assorted spa magazines,Eye Lash magazines, hair styling magazines and nail magazines… ALL for the professionals in the beauty and wellness industries. Not for the consumers eyes!
We work so hard looking for suppliers and any news or educational pieces on in our businesses. Your clients DON’T need to read these. YOU are the beauty and spa owners and the beauty PRO’S not your clients.
So do yourself a favor and your staff too. Don’t put any of your magazines, books or trade journals out for your clients to read! Keep them in your office or break room library. Please!
As beauty businesses, spas and salons we need to keep up to date with the trends. We also need to think about retailing some of them too!
Unfortunately, I see in my travels more and more non-beauty and wellness businesses carrying skincare and more!
WE are the licensed beauty professionals! Not an office supply big box store, craft or other type stores. It makes me sad when brands sell to just any type of business. We know all there is to know on makeup 💄 skincare and beyond. We know the skin in and out. We know what our clients need. We do the facials,massage and makeup services! NOT a clerk or a big box store who sells odd supplies and all things skin and beauty.
Think long and hard about your business and beauty career. Do you agree with me? Where are we headed?
To me it isn’t just about a sale. It is about building a relationship with the guests who come to us for relaxation, to feel prettier and not just about a profit!
My husband bought a good looking $299.99 office chair across from a clearance section of face masks. Feels so wrong.
While I do love ❤️ this store I wish the vendor did not sell these face masks and other skin supplies to this office supply store! I wish the store would stick to what they know best…Office and school supplies.
YOUR business needs to carry what’s hot in beauty NOT other types of stores. Our clients want to buy from us.We are the PROfessional!
As the weather transitions from winter into Spring it is time to switch up your spa water. My clients LOVE the different recipes I make and serve.They also look forward to it. We serve our own private label brand of bottled water 💦 as well! They get to take it the bottle of water home with them. And until they get there… they advertise our H2O wherever they carry and sip that water too.
As you know all you need are a few simple ingredients and distilled or drinking water.

The show season has begun and I just returned from educating at the International EstheticsCosmetics and SPA show in the one and only New York City. The city truly NEVER sleeps.
I taught a class on Makeup…IF you want to carry makeup or already do. I shared business tips,beauty secrets and a few makeup demo’s to get your year off to a pretty profit start! SWAG included.
Make-up artist James Vincent did a class as well and taught an inspirational makeup class on TRENDS for the makeup artist and esthetician.I LOVE NEW YORK and grew up and worked there before I moved to sunny Florida. If you haven’t been think about making a work and play trip and join us next year!This show is amazing.
