How’s your skin looking?

Meet Victoria Tabak

With “ maskne”,winter blast 🥶 weather and stress from the pandemic were in… it is all taking a toll on our skin. So, I decided to interview one of my favorite’s in the skin care industry. If you read this blog you know I am an educator in the beauty & spa industry. But ALL our shows and show season have halted because of the time we’re in.

I so MISS educating, going to shows and conferences and seeing my friends in beauty. Victoria Tabak is one of them. She is not only a skin care expert but following her on Instagram is so much fun. So, if you haven’t discovered her yet you might want to look her up @victoriatabak for her expertise and skin care words of wisdom.

CEO of Nature Pure Labs and so much more!

Mom, Educator, Speaker, Writer, Licensed Esthetician

I see  you are a mom. How many children? How do you juggle your family and business?

3 boys, they’re 7, 4 and 2, so I am always running around.

I’ll be completely straightforward, it is extremely difficult and I’m still learning & trying to get it right, but one thing that’s for sure is that at any given moment something’s gotta give.

Having clearly defined boundaries definitely helps moderate stress, but it is challenging to maintain those boundaries because being a Mom is a full-time job, meanwhile so is being a business owner, it requires you to intentionally shift attention and focus all day long. I am certainly a work in progress, like my business, but every day moving forward, taking one step at a time.

What is your most popular product? Or products that clients covet?

This is a tough question because there are many popular products based on skin concerns & type of product from over 100 different products, but if I had to shave it down to top 3 all around hero products, definitely Instant Energizer Oxygen Masque, Dead Sea Salt Crystal Peel & Black Currant C Serum.

How would YOU describe your brand vegan, organic, natural?

Nature Pure Clinical Skin Care, is a holistic wellness brand first. Every product is backed by science while marrying traditional herbal and botanical remedies to deliver professional results for skin, body & hair. Products are natural, paraben-free, animal cruelty free, leaping bunny certified, formulated with certified organic botanicals and majority of the products are vegan and gluten free.

How do you recommend a client determines her skin type? Or types? An easy way that my blog readers can do quickly.

An easy way to determine your basic skin type is by answering these 3 questions

  1. Do your pores look large or small? Larger pores are typically associated with oily skin, smaller pores are associated with more dry skin.
  2. Does your t-zone get shiny or greasy in the t-zone area of your face especially midday? This is typical with the most common combination skin type.
  3.  When you press with your thumb on your forehead does it leave a white spot surrounded by redness? This typically means you have sensitive skin.

What’s your best beauty secret? Besides sunscreen that you’d like to share with my blog readers and followers.

*Update your skin care regimen routinely and seasonally. I never let my skin get used to any one thing, and the beauty is, in 25 years of Nature Pure’s history, there are over 100 different product solutions to choose from and rotate between.

Do you have a product for crepey skin? It’s a popular question women ask me lately.

Stem Cells Youthful Tissue Rejuvenator, though it may feel tingly & can even turn the skin a bit flush in the first 15 minutes of application, it is the immaculate skin solution for regenerating, smoothing & increasing volume to crepey skin with daily consistent use.

Just for fun… 😍If you were a makeup or skin care product what would you be?

If I were a product I would be the Nature Pure Instant Energizer Oxygen Masque, it feels like butterfly kisses on the face while instantly transforming the appearance of the skin.

I’d like to believe I inspire positivity & self-kindness while educating about skin wellness & sharing my story.

Finally a makeup bag we NEED!

I like all the cute and practical cosmetic bags on the market. I own so many! And my favorites all have lips 💋 on them! But they really are just that! Cute!

There’s a new kid on the beauty block and it’s amazing! Not just for professional makeup artists like me! Although coveted by them. But this bag is made for YOU too!

It is an anti-microbial bag that protects and keeps your beauty 💄 and skin care and makeup brushes clean and you safer!

A healthy cosmetic bag! Who knew?

The above cosmetic bag is chic but the SterileLight bag is better!

You’re safer with SterileLight!

The bag also comes with an anti microbial mat included.

If you do makeup, travel for your work, fly on airplanes ✈️ the mat is everything too! It protects your makeup and brushes at the hotel. You can even use it on your tray table on an airplane. You can never be too careful or clean.

I really really 💜 Love it!

You will too!

Our Bodies Need Some LOVE!

At times like these we need to take care of our immune system and body too. Since it is summer and we shed our clothes and show more skin we need to also slough off dead skin cells. As well as hydrate the skin on our face and body too. One of my clients shared this recipe with me a long time ago. And I recently discovered it in my pandemic cleaning purge of some paper work etc.

I almost forgot how much I like this recipe alongside eating a bowl of oats or granola with home-made yogurt and fruit in season. To make home-made from scratch yogurt I use Belle + Bella. They have an amazing starter packet and unit to make it. It is fun and when i have leftovers (right) instead of licking the spoon I use the fresh yogurt on my face for a gentle neck and face mask.

What you will need for this hand or body recipe:

1 cup of olive oil

1/2 cup of ground up organic oats

1 tbs. vanilla

1 tablespoon of maple syrup

She stirs  in all ingredients and suggests you take some time in the tub.

Place a handful of the mix onto your body. She recommends paying close attention to rough areas like, elbows, knees, hands and feet. Allow the scrub to rest on your skin. Next she recommends rubbing with warm water and a washcloth or a loofah sponge.

Rinse well.

After you get out of the tub. Dry your skin slightly and while damp apply your favorite hand and body lotion.

Your skin will feel soft and fresh you’ll feel brand new!

Don’t make this mistake in your business.

I am so disappointed on something I see at spas and salons all over the country!

what bothers me is seeing the magazines or books 📚 sitting on tables in the waiting room.

I’m not necessarily talking about the old or tattered ones that have been read countless times but the magazines themselves. The selection for the clients or guests to read.

Massage therapy journals, assorted spa magazines,Eye Lash magazines, hair styling magazines and nail magazines… ALL for the professionals in the beauty and wellness industries. Not for the consumers eyes!

We work so hard looking for suppliers and any news or educational pieces on in our businesses. Your clients DON’T need to read these. YOU are the beauty and spa owners and the beauty PRO’S not your clients.

So do yourself a favor and your staff too. Don’t put any of your magazines, books or trade journals out for your clients to read! Keep them in your office or break room library. Please!

What’s wrong with this picture?

As beauty businesses, spas and salons we need to keep up to date with the trends. We also need to think about retailing some of them too!

Unfortunately, I see in my travels more and more non-beauty and wellness businesses carrying skincare and more!

WE are the licensed beauty professionals! Not an office supply big box store, craft or other type stores. It makes me sad when brands sell to just any type of business. We know all there is to know on makeup 💄 skincare and beyond. We know the skin in and out. We know what our clients need. We do the facials, massage and makeup services! NOT a clerk or a big box store who sells odd supplies and all things skin and beauty.

Think long and hard about your business and beauty career. Do you agree with me? Where are we headed?

To me it isn’t just about a sale. It is about building a relationship with the guests who come to us for relaxation, to feel prettier and not just about a profit!

My husband bought a good looking $299.99 office chair across from a clearance section of face masks. Feels so wrong.

While I do love ❤️ this store I wish the vendor did not sell these face masks and other skin supplies to this office supply store! I wish the store would stick to what they know best…Office and school supplies.

YOUR business needs to carry what’s hot in beauty NOT other types of stores. Our clients want to buy from us.We are the PROfessional!

Never stop learning!

Beauty Pros and business owners you always need to be in the know and continue your education & find inspiration!

I’m teaching at the Premiere Orlando show and Premiere Day Spa. It starts this weekend. Come join us and enjoy all this show and beautiful Orlando has to offer! I’m teaching two awesome classes!

Learn, shop the show floor and make new friends and reconnect with old ones!
