Things have changed so much since the pandemic began. Men are diving into the beauty pond and has awakened them to take better care of themselves. Self-care is now becoming a part of their lives.
I’m getting ready to guest speak and explore all things beauty and fashion. It takes a lot to put a class topic and concept together but I love what I do. This year my topic is on male makeup and skin care.
It’s always a new adventure working and playing in New York City. It fuels your creativity and motivates you like no other city. The hustle and bustle is the heart of the city. The city truly never sleeps!
Are you a makeup artist, esthetician, plastic surgeon, dermatologist, own a spa or medical spa?
I fall in love 🧡 with this season every year. It doesn’t get old. I love the feel, scents and the weather. It is like the earth 🌎 is exfoliating the past season and getting us ready for winter in more ways than one.
This fall for makeup and fashion it is all about cinnamon and brown earthy hued eye shadow and lipsticks.
Discover some new PINK hues too! There are so many shades to choose from. Celebrities are rocking Barbie Pink and on the fashion show runways. Pink is always a good idea. It brightens the teeth and complexion.
Update your style if it has been awhile. Let’s enjoy all the beauty, scents and sounds the season has to offer.
I am counting down to my last guest speaking engagement of the year at the International Esthetics Cosmetics and Spa show …where I will be teaching in West Palm Beach.
Can’t wait to shop and feast all the beautiful places in Palm Beach! 🌴 🕶 🌊
There’s a beautiful product that you may not know about. It is an old school apothecary beauty product invented and created in 1895. I have enjoyed it for years! I use it in my makeup kit for makeup assignments. I also even carry it on my beauty shelves in my studio.
Love 💕 love 💕 love!
It is called Rosebud 🌹 Salve. Make-up Artists, esthetician’s, fashion magazines and Celebrities consider it their number one #1. lip balm. It is also a popular staple in hairstylists kit and makeup artists kits. As it not only conditions the lips it is great for hair flyaways.
It comes in a simple round tin. No fancy packaging, It is quite the multi-tasker!
It is also a mommy and family favorite used to aid on the relief of dry skin, diaper rash and the company says for detergent burns. Nail techs love to use it on cuticles and dry knuckles, and elbows as well.
Another version is Rosebud Mentholated balm with skin loving ingredients formulated by G.F.Smith’s grandson Allen R.Smith Jr.. it helps with not only the skin but bug bites, allergies, sore red itchy noses from the cold and other minor skin ailments.
Even the great granddaughter got involved and formulated and designed the newer lip product Smiths 🍓 Strawberry lip balm. Smells like Strawberry Shortcake!
All of the above lip formulas are very emollient!
If you ❤️ love all things beauty and fashion like I do… You gotta try this wonderful lip balm.
Oh by the way, if you’re a fan of mini tube like packaging you’ll love their new small but mighty squeeze tubes.
Here are a few easy ways you can update your look and achieve this:
I love foundation but … Go lightly! WET your makeup sponge with water or a Rosewater before you apply your foundation for a more “natural look”. Creamy formulas or a light mineral liquid foundation work best! If you like a powder foundation simply apply it with a kabuki powder brush instead of a sponge.
Invest in a good eyelash curler! It perks those lashes up and curls them too.
Using an eyelash curler is like a boob job for your lashes!
Go easy on your blush. Use a cream or gel formula. If you use a powder apply your blush with a fan brush.
Creamy formulas give you a more natural rosy healthy glow!
Choose mascara in rich navy, purple or green hues. If you must use brown instead. Black makes your eyes defined but can make your eyes look tired and appear smaller.
* I like to mix and match mascara on my 50 plus clients especially. Navy mixed with a coat of black is softer than a straight black hue. Deep purple on bottom lashes will make whites of the eyes brighter and under eyes fresh!
Play up your eyes with a bit of tinted mascara!
Don’t over tease or over spray your hair you’ll look outdated. Get haircuts on a regular basis. Nothing ages you faster than dry unkept hair. If you dare get a bob haircut or lighten up on the length of your locks.
Gloss those 👄 lips! After applying lipstick apply a dash of a shiny hydrating lip gloss in the center top and bottom of your lips.
Gloss on!
Nail polish 💅 in softer hues don’t need much maintenance or show chips easily. A pearl, champagne, silver, icy pink or blue will update you too!
Choose lighter or medium shades as they are more youthful looking! Your skin will look better too!
Keep up with your neck! We’re all getting a tech neck by looking down at our phones or hunching over a computer. It’s time to invest in a neck cream.
Happy, hydrated skin looks younger.
Keep smiling! 😎 Let people wonder what you’re up to!
Ready to kiss 💋 Chicago “Hello” again! I’ve so MISSED this fabulous part of the country. ✈️
I’m guest speaking and educating at the International Esthetics Cosmetics & Spa show. I’ll also be attending other classes and shopping the massive show floor! This year the show will be near O’Hare airport at a Convention Ctr there.
Always a fabulous show. And will be attending America’s Beauty Show in the same convention center which is a hair show with a combination of beauty, skin and nails!
So come back for more and I’ll be sharing all things beauty from the show floor!
Theanswer is pretty simple! A great set of makeup brushes! No you don’t have to go to extremes and buy a massive set. You just need to make sure you have a set you put together by putting a set together on your own. Or by the set. I also occasionally use a makeup setting spray. But I think MAKEUP looks better when applied with the proper tools. Sort of like a good baker or chef uses.
You really don’t need a dozen or more brushes. Depending how much makeup you use and what makeup you use will determine that. Makeup brushes make your makeup to look so pretty and gives your face a professional finish too. And the quality of the brush does matter. But you don’t have to spend a fortune $$$. And sorry a Dollar Store set won’t give you or your makeup kit what you need.
The main brushes you need are these:
A fan shaped blush brush
A concealer brush
An eye shadow brush one small and one larger for the outer corner or under the eyes to line or do a smoky under eye.
An eyebrow brush and lash comb.
A foundation brush or makeup sponge.
A fluffy powder brush.
A lip brush which will make your lipstick 💄 last longer.
If you really want to own more. Add as you need.
The key thing to remember is to PLAY, explore and see what works for you before you invest in a lot of brushes. If you are a beginner or a PRO make-up artist you might need to use a few more eye brushes but the more brushes you have doesn’t make you a better make-up artist!
And always remember clean brushes make a difference too! Dirty brushes make you break out and result in a dull and dirty looking complexion.
I know what most of you can never get enough of … mascara!!! You just can’t stay away from it. For ME it is all about the lipstick 💄 But for those of you who want to check out a new launch. Here it is…
BLINC Mascara.
Clean & long lasting!
I love to use the original and now this on clients who have special events, brides, mothers of the brides, bridegrooms moms, newscasters, models and teens for proms.
The reason I do is it does not run. No raccoon eyes. Easy to use and removes with water 💦 and your hands and a wash cloth. You’ll see these tiny tubes coming off that’s the mascara. Not your lashes coming off. Like lash extensions without all that $ and time to do it. Just pretty lashes!
But this week rapper Cardi B reached out to her fans on social media for of all things …skin care tips! Along with skin care product recommendations.
She even shared pictures of her troubled skin. It wasn’t pretty! She mentioned ” This is my cheek…its been happening for like 3 months now. Shit really is uncomfortable.”
And she said according to her Twitter post: “That gave me some shit that dried out my face more and make me get more pours. They said it would take 3 months but I don’t got time for that and didn’t give a reason on why I am breaking out.”
What is wrong with this picture?
My thoughts as a beauty and skin professional…
ALWAYS seek a professional! That’s what they are for. They are trained professionals. Not fans. (While word of mouth recommendations are fine and work out some time.) And one consult may not be enough. If one Doctor doesn’t work for you try another. And remember not all skin issues are acne or the same. A few clogged pores does not mean it is acne!
Patience is key when being treated by a Dr. or esthetician.
They can’t help you unless you go to see them and have them look at your skin. Cardi B’s skin could have been on its way to looking better and healthier if she just made that call and see another doctor if she felt she was not getting results.
Dermatologists nowadays are also retailing skin care not just injectionbles and Botox but professional medical grade skin care. There are many reasons why the skin can have issues. Hormones, diet, stress, overkill of makeup, going to sleep with makeup still on.
Maybe the current skin care you use needs a refresh!
Maybe what you are using isn’t working for you anymore. Time to try something NEW. A makeup artist, skin care expert or dermatologist or plastic surgeons office can recommend a line and plan for you.

Or book an appointment with an esthetician to look at your skin and get a consultation and a deepcleansing facial. They work wonders.
So I’ll end with this message never wait for weeks or months!
If you see something … do something!
There is help! There are answers. Clear up NOT cover up and be patient.
Our eyes say so much about us and will scream TIRED in a hot minute. Here are a few ideas you can use to remedy them in a flash! I use them on myself, celebrity clients, mommies and on photo shoots.
Eye gel masks are instant face lifts for the eyes. They fit perfectly under your eyes and are drenched in hydrating puff relieving goodness.
Yes they do! I not only use them by the slices on the entire eye area. I also like to freeze 🥶 or (refrigerate them) them. Next, allow them to thaw a moment and place to refresh the eyes for at least 20 minutes. They are a natural diuretic.
Another remedy for tired eyes is by using Denim Blue mascara. I like to use it alone or OVER a black or dark brown mascara. Makes the whites of the eyes appear brighter. And the dark circle under eyes say BYE BYE.
*Same is true for eyeliner. The darker the shade the smaller your eyes will look. Look for a denim blue, sienna brown or gray. Or try a brighter color for that unexpected pop of color.
A salmon, yellow or caramel concealer depending on your coloring will tone down those tired looking eyelids and under eyes. Say Hello to Brighter Eyes. Sometime our under eyes aren’t just the issue it is the eye lid too. Use tap and press motions to apply.
If you want definition but don’t want an actual pigmented mascara… try a simple CLEAR mascara. You’ll gently define the lashes. But no color.
If you have sensitive eyes and you have an allergic reaction to an eye shadow. Try a tiny scoop from a fresh aloe plant. Takes away itchiness and calms redness too.
*Did you know that purple, lilac and very bright pink eye shadows can cause allergic reactions?
Let a good nights sleep 😴 be your nighttime goal. Don’t burn yourself out pulling long nights out or not getting enough rest.
