It is National Lipstick day!

I truly believe and my signature mantra is: “ A day without lipstick is like a day without sunshine”

What’s hot in the world of lipstick 💄💋?

💋Lipstick in general from soft to bold hues. Women are starting to pull out those lipstick tubes! Lip stains rule!

💋Lip conditioners and lip balms are HOT!! These face masks are making our lips dry as ever.

💋 Lip masks are HOT too! From Korea, Hong Kong and now made in the USA 🇺🇸 these masks are little miracle workers.

💋 The dark trimmed lip liner is out. Invisible or Nearly Nude are IN!

💋 Lip Exfoliators are a skin care necessity!

💋 if you vape or smoke cigarettes 🚬 maybe you want to give that a rest and rethink it. If you want your lips to look prettier and more youthful and kissable. You need to do the right thing. Each puff makes you wrinkle more! Day after day! Really!

💋 Wearing sunscreen on your face is a must. Also… pay particular attention to and protect the tissue on the upper lip area and chin from 🌞 sunburn and wrinkling!

💋 Honey 🍯 is a delicious and cheap lip treatment. It can be used on the lips only or all over the face!!

Lipstick on your teeth?

Wanna know what is buzzing in beauty?

Looking for a cool tool you for your lipstick loving clients will LOVE?

Don’t you just hate lipstick on your teeth after you freshly applied your fave color?

Using the old beauty trick by sticking your finger in your mouth remove the remains so it does not stick on your teeth. You need Lipstuk. Created by two awesome girl bosses who happen to be moms and childhood friends.

What is does it look like? A lipstick tube.

What is it made of? Baking grade silicone. Diswasher safe. Much more sanitary than your finger. EASY to use, clean and recyclable… Great for on the go!

What it does?

AFTER applying lipstick. Insert Lipstuk in your tube.

Close lips around the tube indent and slide out to trap excess lips product. You may use the top to blot, smooth and blend out your lipstick.

Not only is it a cool useful beauty tool it is just plain adorable!

My two favorite hues Luscious Kiss Red and Pretty in Pink.

Another beauty hack that you can do is refrigerate or place in very cold water and chill it. Use it to cool down tired eyes after a long day or when you have a migraine.

Candy Cane Lane

Have you gone down the candy aisle or shopped at one of Ralph Lauren’s daughter’s candy stores?

Candy canes are having a major moment right now. They come in so many hues and are so fun when used in a variety of delicious and decorative ways.

They come in so many colors and styles these days. I love to serve them to guests with milk, hot cocoa and crush them and sprinkle on top of cheesecake, cupcakes and more. I also enjoy serving my clients Candy Cane Lane hot Tea with a tiny candy cane hanging from inside the cup.

They seem to make people of all ages smile around this time of year especially.

One of my fave ways to keep it fun at my makeup studio is by making some special clients a fresh home-made lip treat. Peppermint candy canes work well and taste refreshing. But I am also over the moon with the other flavors and colors available today.

All you need for my recipe is…

1 fresh jar of organic coconut oil (not used from your kitchen pantry)
A candy cane of your choice.

Using a kitchen mallot I crush the canes into tiny pieces but a few mini chunks work well and are visually appealing.

I then place a soup spoon (or fill with a 1/4 cup) of the coconut oil and place it in a microwave-safe small bowl. The amount of coconut oil depends on how much you want to make)

I sprinkle in a few pieces of the crushed candy cane.

I microwave for 50 seconds or less. I eyeball it. (Yes, you can do this on the stovetop but I like it this way too)

IF you want to have a peppermint kick add a dash of food-grade peppermint oil.

Next, I take this mixture out of the microwave, stir a bit and let it cool very quickly and then place some of it in a small container. You will have leftovers depending on the size jar you use.

What you will have is a cool to the tongue and refreshing lipgloss or lip balm that is not only fun to make but this recipe is so EASY to do.

The shelf life isn’t months but more like a week or so but the feeling on dry winter lips and skin-softening will make you want to use it daily! Treat yourself or someone else this holiday season and keep those lips soft and kissable this cold winter!

Jingle Bells Lipstick Sells!

If you want to increase those holiday sales for the Holiday season starting with Black Friday you need to carry lipsticks!!!

Most spas and salons don’t and that is a BIG mistake as far as I am concerned. If you don’t carry lipsticks they are going elsewhere to buy it after they leave your business. woman with brown hair doing lipstick and holding little mirror

To get started all you need are a few colors of lipstick, a clear lipgloss and a lip liner or two. TESTERS are the key to sales. If they can’t try them. They may not want to buy one.

Offer, hand sanitizer, plenty of tissues and a disposable lip brushes.

Keep your makeup area immaculate. Cleaning up after every client is important.

During the holidays and winter lip conditioners, balms and clear glosses sell. But RED lipstick comes out of hiding and reigns supreme!

When applying lipstick there are a few points I would like to make:

First teach your clients exfoliation of the lips is key. Either with a lip scrub off your shelves or a teaspoon of brown sugar and a dash of olive oil. Oh so exfoliating and soothing and makes the lipstick glide on like silk.

Fair skin: The complexion is prone to redness and may be very sensitive. Look for sheer,blue based reds. These hues don’t look over the top and too bold against pale skin.

Olive skin: This warm undertone complexion can pull off almost any color! RED included.

Dark skin: This hue can be warm or cool. If the skin has golden tones (think Halle Berry), choose reds with a brown base like brick red, cinnamon and such. Is the skin darker and more blue-based go for deep ruby with a hint of pink. Cherry or a burgundy.

Let the lips be the center of attention! Lipstick is an instant face lift…don’t forget that!

Even if your clients say they don’t wear makeup…Don’t let that stop you from painting her pout and most likely selling her a bodacious lipstick!
