Spring is on its way!

So in anticipation of its arrival I just bought myself a bouquet of flowers. Guys or gals you don’t have to wait for someone to buy you flowers …

TREAT Yourself and buy them yourself. They don’t have to be expensive! A small 💐bouquet can bring so much JOY!

These days they are available everywhere. Besides my local florist of farmers market I love the flowers 💐 from Trader Joe’s.

Another thing you can do is buy a potted plant 🪴 of flowers 🌸 with greenery.

Plant 🌱 some love ❤️ in your home decor!

Flowers “boost your spirits” just looking at them!

Add fragrance and color to your day with a floral bouquet! 🌺

Our days in Florida right now are cool in the 40’s and we’ve needed to bundle up and cozy up with heat or by our fireplace. It had been dreary rainy days but the sun is shining brightly today.

So, I’m treating my rooms to a spring flower in a bud vase bathrooms.

Then separating more of that bouquet 💐 in vases or pots around the kitchen, living room and dining room.

Saving $$$ never looked or smelled so good!

Happy Spring!

It’s Freezing!

Don’t laugh it feels so brisk and cold here in Northeast Florida! 🌴 The temperature is 50 degrees. I know you’re laughing at me. Or us. Yes I’m turning into a true southerner. Our weather is so unpredictable one day we’re sweating and another day we’re beyond cold. Freezing 🥶

My husband is whining and bundled up too. We’ve got cozy socks, sweaters and pajama bottoms on.

So, I decided to warm us both up with some hot apple 🍏 cider. It’s working. Now to an old trick my mom did up North during the winter. I put a pot of 💦 water on. You know the size pot like making pasta. But I’m not. My mom swore it makes the house warmer in the fall & winter and adds moisture to our air.

But I wanted to take it a bit further and make a Cozy Pot of Potpourri. I like to scent the air with the following.

1 orange 🍊 sliced

Citrus deodorizes the air too!

1 Apple 🍎 sliced red or green it’s up to you!

A sprinkling of cloves.

A smidge of pumpkin pie spice

1 teaspoon of luxe Vanilla.

* I once got a gift 🎁 of vanilla from my husband and I love this useful kitchen addition from his international travels. I use it in so many different ways and find it is extra fancy stuff!

2 cinnamon sticks are optional. It looks pretty in the pot. But optional.

Toss all of the above in the pot of simmering water you boiled but lowered the flame. Let all of it mix, mingle with each other and dance in the pot. I just shut off that simmering pot of scentsational love!

My kitchen and house smells so aromatic fresh & delish!! Play with this recipe like I do and vary it any way you’d like.

Thanksgiving and the other holidays are fast approaching if you’d like to scent your home “naturally” and without room sprays, inexpensive candles and plug-ins. Try this!

Your guests will notice! And you will too.

Room Freshener DIY

Aaah! A little aromatherapy goes s along way.

In my beauty business and in my home I try really really hard to keep it chemical free. So one of my favorite go to’s is fresh lavender buds. The scent of lavender is RELAXING.

A simple thing I like to do is use the buds sprinkled in the vacuum cleaner bag along with a drop of lavender essential oil. It really freshens up the carpets and air.

))I also love to add a few buds of (culinary) lavender to my tea pot when making tea. Its is an afternoon delight. My guests comment and love it too.

Clearing your space …

Today I woke up at 5:20 AM as most of you I am restless and can’t seem to sleep 😴 in like I used to. I’m taking time this Labor Day to cook, cozy up to a few magazines and a good book 📚 and to clear my space.

Life has thrown so many curve balls at us and it is getting a bit tiring. Isn’t it? I so miss the good old days.

A few things I like to do in my home and office/ beauty business to purify my space and protect it too.

Playing music 🎶 really feeds the body, mind and spirit. I enjoy and have fallen in love ❤️ with the music 🎵 of George Skaroulis. My favorites are his Sanctuary and Sanctuary 2 CD’s I also love David Young’s Bliss. These both are BEAUTIful music, calming and relaxing. You can’t be in a bad mood anymore if you listen to them in your car or home or business.

Feed yourself with music. 🎶

Detoxify your space and your mind with a little meditation. 🧘‍♂️ Affirm with positive mantras. Create your own personal mantra. Repeat over and over.

Stressful job, a toxic relationship and our lives now in general can affect our digestive tract and adrenal glands. I like to start my day with a simple drink.

After I wake up I pour myself a glass of room temperature water 💦. Not cold or iced. Flush out your body and quench your thirst with water every morning.

I also alternate between these two drinks. Long known as a healthy and most beneficial plant 🌱 I love to sip aloe juice. One small glass in the morning will do. It helps your body detox too. I also surround my space and desk area with a small aloe plant.

Great to drink, great to grow and great for skin issues like burns in the kitchen or bathroom too.

Another drink I do more often is warm water with lemon 🍋 and ginger. Great for the digestive tract and immune boosting too.

Burn some incense a bay leaf or sage. Or all three in a week. They all protect your space and you as well as purify the air of negative energy.

Incense is my state of mind!
Oranges 🍊 rule!

The Chinese believe that oranges bring you abundance and protection. I’ll never forget the scents and sights of Hong Kong where the sandalwood incense perfumed the air and smelled so amazing. I also saw oranges everywhere in businesses, at temples and on tables in the home. They believe having bowls of oranges 🍊 in your home for you, your family and guests to enjoy. And they brighten your kitchen as well as bring you abundance and protection!

Who doesn’t want that?

So I hope you clear the air and clean your space with some of these small rituals I highly recommend.

Hope you have a beautiful end to your day wherever you live.

Finally a makeup bag we NEED!

I like all the cute and practical cosmetic bags on the market. I own so many! And my favorites all have lips 💋 on them! But they really are just that! Cute!

There’s a new kid on the beauty block and it’s amazing! Not just for professional makeup artists like me! Although coveted by them. But this bag is made for YOU too!

It is an anti-microbial bag that protects and keeps your beauty 💄 and skin care and makeup brushes clean and you safer!

A healthy cosmetic bag! Who knew?

The above cosmetic bag is chic but the SterileLight bag is better!

You’re safer with SterileLight!

The bag also comes with an anti microbial mat included.

If you do makeup, travel for your work, fly on airplanes ✈️ the mat is everything too! It protects your makeup and brushes at the hotel. You can even use it on your tray table on an airplane. You can never be too careful or clean.

I really really 💜 Love it!

You will too!

Yummy!

Yesterday I went grocery 🛒 shopping…we put it off and couldn’t wait any longer.

It it is a battleground out there for food and drink! I couldn’t find so many things and we paid a fortune for paper towels! $22.00 for six rolls 💴

I wanted coconut water 💦 but could not find any. So, I decided to make it at home. I was craving all things coconut, like a coconut granola mix, coconut 🥥 and açaí bowl and coconut water.

I also love the coconut chips from Trader Joe’s… they are delicious to snack on and remind me of my time spent in Hawaii.

I loved the quaint little stands in the roadside that sold them fresh and twisted from the

2 Teaspoons of Thai lite Coconut 🥥 Milk

22 oz. of bottled water (Not tap)

A healthy DIY and hydration ritual you’ll so enjoy!

Add ice to a pretty tall glass of it and maybe float a cherry 🍒 on top and enjoy!

Celebrate the beauty of Chinese New Year!

photo of red paper lanterns

In your home or in your business you can celebrate the Lunar New Year too. It starts now and is a 15 day celebration. As I mentioned before I am an all American girl who just happens to be Polish and Chinese. What fun! I eat Polish  kielbasa sausage and devour juicy dumplings too! I love celebrating Chinese New Year in NYC’s Chinatown. Have you ever been? The lion dance and all the other rituals and food are wonderful. The sweet treats are fabulous too.

You can bring a piece of the Asian pie so to speak by bringing in some Asian lanterns. Red is a powerful color and brings in good luck. Gold symbolizies money and and of course jade is good health and good luck. Decorate your business with any of these hues and bring in some exotic decor too.

We serve hot tea and have customized fortune cookies with our own messages inside. Or you can buy them by the box at Asian grocery stores.

Do a promotion with any Asian inspired or ingredients skin care and or body or fragrance. It is nice to have an ethnic twist. Give your clients a discount to get them to explore and shop. Your clients will notice and your cash register will ring more too.

I recently learned that not all Asians celebrate the lunar new year. In China it is not only a national holiday for days… Chinese New year is celebrated for 15 glorious days. Vietnamese have their own kind fun and festivals. S Koreans have a 3 day celebration. Lastly the Japanese revere January 1st as a very special day.

So bring it… in your business this year. You still have time to join in on the festive fun.

Gong Hei Fat Choy is Cantonese for Happy New Year…it translates into “Wishing you great happiness and prosperity.”

Energizing scents!

Today I had to be on TV and was sleepless in Seattle and woke up very early. I also had to go to my makeup and skin studio and worked all day. In the middle of the afternoon I needed a lift between clients. I was tired. I’m never tired! So, instead of reaching out for coffee I did this. If you need a lift over the holiday season at work or at play…TRY THIS!

Looking for a boost of plant energy during a hectic day at work? OR at home 🏡after holiday shopping?

Look to Mother Nature!

Try rubbing some basil leaves together. Or  fresh peppermint leaves work as well. The aromatic scents will refresh your spirit. I keep a variety of plants and one of each of these at my business door and in my beauty kitchen. Ready for cooking, ice tea or aromatherapy.

Not all aromatherapy has to come from a bottle of essential oil.

Enjoy!
