I’m so crushed!

I went shopping to some of my favorite stores this week and one store in particular I so adore. I saw something I had to WARN YOU ABOUT. The beauty department was filled with women and girls going crazy over all the new product and beauty tool additions. They were shopping like they mean it! On the hunt.

BUT their hands were touching all over the bottles, potions and fragrance. No pandemic here! Everyone so close near each other. No safe social distancing a bit here!

Women were trying on, testing and sniffing like there was no tomorrow! Contaminating all around them without a care.

From soaps, to serums, to hand and body lotions and essential oils. Opening boxes and noses PRESSED to the actual soap bars and top of the product jars. No staff around not one stopped them. I’m sure the store was a made house so they might have missed these women doing this but even if the store was not during the holiday season that anyone would say anything to them!

This store is a discount store there are NO Testers. It’s not Nordstrom, Macy’s or Bloomingdales.

I hated to see this happen. After the women decided the scent, the soap bar or skincare wasn’t for them they threw it back. Not placed. Actually threw it back on the shelf.

I felt for all the people who might select these very products and give them as gifts AFTER these handful of women put there nose 👃 inside and touched or squirted product on their hands.

I would never ever allow that to happen in my studio. My guests who shop here would never even think to do this!

So just a word of advice.. please make note and BEWARE and be aware! Think about where you buy your beauty, fragrance products and beauty gifts.

Been lost in the Holidaze!

Tis the season. That is why I have not been blogging much lately. My days are long. My business has started to show signs of festive shopping and people coming out more like it used to be. It has not been easy for business owners this year. We are still hurting. The beauty and spa business even more. Face Masks 😷 have made clients lazy and more relaxed in their skin care. Foundation, blush and 💄lipsticks! But now I find people are trying to get into the reason for the season and all the magic!! People are tired and restless…how about you ? Do you see this out your way to?

I love helping my clients shop for loved ones and discover all the treasures I have to offer! I also love ❤️ helping them look good and feel fabulous too! When they shop I encourage them to treat themselves 🎁 to something too!

Still offering curbside pickup and doing whatever it takes to serve them! As well as of course we ship beauty boxes 📦 to their door.

My business is my clients HAPPY place!

Leave their worries at the door, no racism, no Karen’s, no judging just love and fun! Their faces tell me they enjoy shopping here and all the eye candy on my shelves and tabletops. The pretty displays, my sense of humor signs like “Shoplifters will be beaten to death” and the variety of merchandise I buy especially this time of year and filled to the brim! From makeup, to makeup brushes, skincare, earrings, rings, necklaces and bracelets.

Naughty is my state of mind! I love to make my clients laugh. So I served them several drinks…Naughty Elf punch was a big hit and they enjoyed a luxurious box of chocolates.

So bear with me. I’ll be back!

Hope you are enjoying the beauty of the season.

The New Face of Makeup

I think during these pandemic times we are living a more casual and staying at home more kind of life. Don’t you?

So with that said…I think a more natural look and natural approach to skincare too. At this time makeup has taken a backseat. No full face of base! No over the top glam! Softer natural looking eyes NOT overdone glammed up smoky eyes like the look below.

Gorgeous makeup but pre-Covid look!

The colors of the season you ask?

Pink, a rosy healthy glow and natural hues. But also wine will be poppin’ on faces too.

Softer Eye makeup & Nude lips

Maybe red lipstick will peek its beautiful head over the holiday season. But the holiday season isn’t going to be the same now into New years Eve.

Red & Wine 👄 Lips

Skin care reigns supreme.

Especially for those who find the time. Wearing face masks and covers, sweats and yoga pants or Casual Friday daily now make for a relaxed fit lazy girl lifestyle.

Skin care is a MUST!

But self care is now more important than ever!

I wish you a Merry Christmas! 🎄

I hope it was an amazing Holiday season for you and your spa or beauty business! Mine was going well until the FLU 😷 arrived. Thank goodness we were able to make it to at least the week before the Christmas finish line. We worked our tails off. We answered many calls for Mail Orders and gift 🎁 order requests.

We served yummy and cozy drinks 🍹 and decadent edibles while they shopped.

We offered free gift wrap, gift cards and a holiday discount for our VIP mailing list clients.

We had two weekend Open House celebrations 🎉 and the clients and my team loved spending time with our clients and so enjoy helping them shop for their gift giving needs.

Next on to wrapping up the year and a New Years Eve toast email to THANK our clients for their business.

Afterwards… Closed for Inventory and a little R & R.

Hope you get a chance to rest a bit and enjoy your family and friends or just being alone. Tomorrow is a brand new day and soon we will start a brand new year!

Taking one day at a time in bed. This flu shall pass. Next time I will not skip getting the flu shot. You’re never so busy you can’t make time to take care of yourself. As a business owner I will remember my own wellness advice.

Blessings 🙏 to you!

Candy Cane Lane

Have you gone down the candy aisle or shopped at one of Ralph Lauren’s daughter’s candy stores?

Candy canes are having a major moment right now. They come in so many hues and are so fun when used in a variety of delicious and decorative ways.

They come in so many colors and styles these days. I love to serve them to guests with milk, hot cocoa and crush them and sprinkle on top of cheesecake, cupcakes and more. I also enjoy serving my clients Candy Cane Lane hot Tea with a tiny candy cane hanging from inside the cup.

They seem to make people of all ages smile around this time of year especially.

One of my fave ways to keep it fun at my makeup studio is by making some special clients a fresh home-made lip treat. Peppermint candy canes work well and taste refreshing. But I am also over the moon with the other flavors and colors available today.

All you need for my recipe is…

  • 1 fresh jar of organic coconut oil (not used from your kitchen pantry)
  • A candy cane of your choice.

Using a kitchen mallot I crush the canes into tiny pieces but a few mini chunks work well and are visually appealing.

I then place a soup spoon (or fill with a 1/4 cup) of the coconut oil and place it in a microwave-safe small bowl. The amount of coconut oil depends on how much you want to make)

I sprinkle in a few pieces of the crushed candy cane.

I microwave for 50 seconds or less. I eyeball it. (Yes, you can do this on the stovetop but I like it this way too)

IF you want to have a peppermint kick add a dash of  food-grade peppermint oil.

Next, I take this mixture out of the microwave, stir a bit and let it cool very quickly and then place some of it in a small container. You will have leftovers depending on the size jar you use.

What you will have is a cool to the tongue and refreshing lipgloss or lip balm that is not only fun to make but this recipe is so EASY to do.

The shelf life isn’t months but more like a week or so but the feeling on dry winter lips and skin-softening will make you want to use it daily! Treat yourself or someone else this holiday season and keep those lips soft and kissable this cold winter!

Sometimes the best gifts are home-made and made with love!!! Don’t you agree?

Jingle Bells Lipstick Sells!

If you want to increase those holiday sales for the Holiday season starting with Black Friday you need to carry lipsticks!!!

Most spas and salons don’t and that is a BIG mistake as far as I am concerned. If you don’t carry lipsticks they are going elsewhere to buy it after they leave your business.woman with brown hair doing lipstick and holding little mirror

To get started all you need are a few colors of lipstick, a clear lipgloss and a lip liner or two. TESTERS are the key to sales. If they can’t try them. They may not want to buy one.

Offer, hand sanitizer, plenty of tissues and a disposable lip brushes.

Keep your makeup area immaculate. Cleaning up after every client is important.

During the holidays and winter lip conditioners, balms and clear glosses sell. But RED lipstick comes out of hiding and reigns supreme!

When applying lipstick there are a few points I would like to make:

First teach your clients exfoliation of the lips is key. Either with a lip scrub off  your shelves or a teaspoon of brown sugar and a dash of olive oil. Oh so exfoliating and soothing and makes the lipstick glide on like silk.

Fair skin: The complexion is prone to redness and may be very sensitive. Look for sheer, blue based reds. These hues don’t look over the top and too bold against pale skin.

Olive skin: This warm undertone complexion can pull off almost any color! RED included.

Dark skin: This hue can be warm or cool. If the skin has golden tones (think Halle Berry), choose reds with a brown base like brick red, cinnamon and such. Is the skin darker and more blue-based go for deep ruby with a hint of pink. Cherry or a burgundy.

Let the lips be the center of attention!  Lipstick is an instant face lift…don’t forget that!

Even if your clients say they don’t wear makeup…Don’t let that stop you from painting her pout and most likely selling her a bodacious lipstick!

Pretty Lips = Happy Clients!
