In my beauty business and in my home I try really really hard to keep it chemical free. So one of my favorite go to’s is fresh lavender buds. The scent of lavender is RELAXING.
A simple thing I like to do is use the buds sprinkled in the vacuum cleaner bag along with a drop of lavender essential oil. It really freshens up the carpets and air.
))I also love to add a few buds of (culinary) lavender to my tea pot when making tea. Its is an afternoon delight. My guests comment and love it too.
We’re headed into another long weekend! π΄πSo looking forward to chilling away. If your business is open maybe you can serve something refreshing. Or simply enjoy this recipe at home with your family. I so love to entertain CLIENTS.family and friends. I even wrote a book on it Entertaining in your Salon or SPA.
Strawberry Mango Lemonade
Blend and give it a whirl with 1 cup of frozen strawberries, 2 cups of frozen mango chunks and 2 cups of lemonade that you made.Or cheat and use store bought already made.
This recipe makes 4 glasses of refreshing and delicious lemonade. More if you use smaller glasses.
Garnish with a pineapple chunk for a tropical twist. Since we can’t quite getaway at least we can pretend we are with a few of life’s simple treasures.
How time flies going through a global pandemic. First you soak in the information you are told. It is hard to even believe what is happening. The days go by very slowly and seem so surreal. Oh the newness of it all. The new normal. Our stay in place at home becomes your way of life. We have even forgotten the day of the week.
The sun π still shines, the rain βοΈ still comes down and the birds π¦ are happily singing away. Spring πΊ has finally arrived for most of us and life keeps growing and going.
But somehow you know things are different now. While I do have my husband to keep me company in quarantine I do not have any children. But …I do have babies! They sit waiting for me in my business. My charming beauty cottage nestled on a quiet street in a neighborhood of homes and business offices.
My babies are the beauties on my shelves. Pretty things that make you look good, smell good and feel fabulous.
I have days at my studio to organize things, rearrange, answer telephone βοΈ calls and emails and to stock up on our shelves, pack up mail orders π¦ and to above all clean and disinfect even more for this COVID-19.
I worked so hard for what I have achieved and have come a long way. I am sure if you own a business or have and are devoted to a career you know what this feels like too.
I HOPE and pray my clients come back to shop and get dolled up with me. I yearn to pamper skin and paint faces. How about you? How’s your business life? Are you even able to open in your state?
But it will be different and with face coverings, masks and not my usual things. I so enjoyed serving blooming π΅tea, gourmet coffee and something edible. Sweets or fresh fruit and veggies. But now…not sure. I loved hosting fun and yummy shopping π events. But for now none will be held. My lipstick red doors are closed. I am not officially open and am just shipping orders.

I have a whole prop house full of β€οΈ hearts and kisses πall ready for the season of love!
Time to decorate if you haven’t already begun in your home, office, spa or salon.
Got left over red ribbon? Curling ribbon? Red wrapping paper or other festive things from the Christmas holidays?
Bring them out and save some money π΅ by using up the rest of the trimmings or anything red decor. (Pink or metallics work well too)
Barter with a business or client or family member who bakes and serve some yummy cupcakes, pie, cakes or even chocolates.
I also like to do a chocolate love β€οΈ tree. I bought a cone shaped styrofoam piece from Michaels and covered it with parchment paper. I bought a terracotta flower pot and filled it with foam and covered it in faux grass. Looks like a π± and a tree. Got it?
Next I take chocolates from a box of nice chocolates. Stick a tooth pick into a chocolate and pop it in the cone tree.
I fill the entire space of that cone tree with chocolates. Over the Valentine season we put them out the week of and serve them and a cup of decadent coffee. After 5:00 or on a Saturday we offer Champagne πΎ spritzers. Or serve them straight up.
We decorate the table with confetti’s, shimmering glitter or conversation hearts. Cheap and easy!
We prepare 3 bodacious giveaways!
And do a drawing on Valentine’s β€οΈ Day! Clients love it. We also do a drawing for Galentine’s Day.
We also make our lipsticks πand lip treatment πproducts or services onspecial.Who doesn’t love a SALE?
And tis’ the season for KISSING? πππ Right?
In your home or in your business you can celebrate the Lunar New Year too. It starts now and is a 15 day celebration. As I mentioned before I am an all American girl who just happens to be Polish and Chinese. What fun! I eat Polish kielbasa sausage and devour juicy dumplings too! I love celebrating Chinese New Year in NYC’s Chinatown. Have you ever been? The lion dance and all the other rituals and food are wonderful. The sweet treats are fabulous too.
You can bring a piece of the Asian pie so to speak by bringing in some Asian lanterns. Red is a powerful color and brings in good luck. Gold symbolizies money and and of course jade is good health and good luck. Decorate your business with any of these hues and bring in some exotic decor too.
We serve hot tea and have customized fortune cookies with our own messages inside. Or you can buy them by the box at Asian grocery stores.
Do a promotion with any Asian inspired or ingredients skin care and or body or fragrance. It is nice to have an ethnic twist. Give your clients a discount to get them to explore and shop. Your clients will notice and your cash register will ring more too.
I recently learned that not all Asians celebrate the lunar new year. In China it is not only a national holiday for days… Chinese New year is celebrated for 15 glorious days. Vietnamese have their own kind fun and festivals. S Koreans have a 3 day celebration. Lastly the Japanese revere January 1st as a very special day.
So bring it… in your business this year. You still have time to join in on the festive fun.
Gong Hei Fat Choy is Cantonese for Happy New Year…it translates into “Wishing you great happiness and prosperity.”
My husband bought me not one but two lemon trees π³ a few months ago. I am enjoying my life with lemons so much! One tree is outside my business door and another is in my backyard.
So, I get creative and make things!
I usually kill plants cause I work so much in and out of town. But I am on a roll with aloe plants and lemon trees. They are not only surviving they are thriving!!!
One of the things I have made is a Lemon Facial Toner.
If you want to make some for yourself or your clients here is a recipe.
What you will need is:
2 fresh lemons (lemon peels only)
1 cup of bottled water
Place lemon peels in a pitcher. I prefer using a small glass one.
Add the water.
Cover and leave this mixture alone for at least 10 hours or overnight.
Strain the liquid through a coffee filter and pour into a clean and sterilized bottle. This refreshing toner will last up to two weeks.
Apply to your face with a flat cotton pad round.
Don’t use on acne or rosacea. Just to be on the age side.
Next up…Sparkling lemon water!
You don’t need to buy the lemon flavored sparkling water. You simply need sparkling water π¦ that you added lemon π slices too! So delightful and really quenches the thirst.
Serve in a wine goblet or antique shop glassware. Feel like royalty. My clients and family love this! And a fresh mint π leaf for decor.
I hope it was an amazing Holiday season for you and your spa or beauty business! Mine was going well until the FLU π· arrived. Thank goodness we were able to make it to at least the week before the Christmas finish line. We worked our tails off. We answered many calls for Mail Orders and gift π order requests.
We served yummy and cozy drinks πΉ and decadent edibles while they shopped.
We offered free gift wrap, gift cards and a holiday discount for our VIP mailing list clients.
We had two weekend Open House celebrations π and the clients and my team loved spending time with our clients and so enjoy helping them shop for their gift giving needs.
Next on to wrapping up the year and a New Years Eve toast email to THANK our clients for their business.
Afterwards… Closed for Inventory and a little R & R.
Hope you get a chance to rest a bit and enjoy your family and friends or just being alone. Tomorrow is a brand new day and soon we will start a brand new year!
Taking one day at a time in bed. This flu shall pass. Next time I will not skip getting the flu shot. You’re never so busy you can’t make time to take care of yourself. As a business owner I will remember my own wellness advice.
Fall gave us a cooler morning here in sunny Florida π΄π and I made a batch of New Orleans style coffee.βοΈ enjoyed fresh fruit, and a piece of something naughty!
Shipped mail orders and worked on a mail out layout for our VIP clients! Of course all my clients are VIP’s to us.
Spent some time reflecting on all that will be happening this fall thru December. Grateful for all the opportunities and happy to be alive.
Returned emails, phone calls and got ready for TV. I will share more on that next post. Today is my day off! π As you can see a business owners work is never really done. But that’s why we do it. We love β€οΈ what we do!
